Minato barely opens his eyes, then sighs. The sky has a color that seems almost impossible for him, so brilliant and blue. It prompts him to sit up.

Aigis doesn't notice. Almost in a trance, she is still murmuring sweet nothings, promises. There are steps echoing in the stairs, and Minato knows they are from his friends. He stands up then, walks two steps to the railing and looks downwards. The school's ceiling is not that high up. There is a flow of students moving down there, coming from the Auditorium, speaking.

It is always about communication, he muses.

They look so trivial, (so happy). It was Graduation Day, a moment to celebrate. Planning and fearing, those would come after the euphoria vanished a bit.

"People are afraid of death because they think there's nothing else after," Ryoji greets him, putting a hand on his shoulder.

Minato just nods at first, quiet. Then he says: "And they are right." Words come out tiny, they sound strange in his ears. He notices then that he is still wearing the earphones, and takes them off. They hang almost heavy on the collar of his jacket.

Ryoji leans on the railing by his side, slides a hand until it covers his. He gives Minato a little pat, reassuring him in silence with a serenity he never had before. 'In life', Minato wanted to think, but the mere notion was strange. He couldn't, not with everything he knew.

"Oh. It seems that's still difficult for you to understand some stuff." Ryoji comments after a while. Minato plays with his earphones without getting what he means, and too tired to make the effort to. The other grins at him. "But it's okay. Even I have changed my perception..."

"Which one?"

"There are no absolute truths!" Ryoji laughs with Pharos' laughter, a sound that was not quite teasing. A sound that might even be affectionate. "Not even dying is now such a sure thing, isn't it great? And so easy..."

Minato's expression is peaceful. He glances a last time to the body he left behind, cradled in Aigis' lap. He can watch himself breathing. His smile falters a bit, for a second he thinks he would've liked another thing. Another ending.

He remembers, then, the promises he made. The promises he got. He remembers contracts, (social) links and his choices.

No, no. This is how it should be.

"Let's go," He says to Ryoji, and they both disappear from the scene.

Down there S.E.E.S. gets to reunite with full knowledge of themselves, after three months. They greet. They hug, everyone. They have been through so much.

They're still smiling.
